Dead Man’s Bones – “My Body’s a Zombie for You”

If someone came up to you and said “My body’s a zombie for you”, how would unsecured loans you take that? Is it a compliment, an insult, or just plain creepy?
It’s not very often that an artist uses the walking dead as a metaphor to expresses his love, but that’s precisely what Ryan Gosling is doing in the bizarre single off of his 2009 bad credit loans self-titled album Dead Man’s Bones (ANTI- records). The addition of the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir as backup singers doesn’t make the track any less eerie, and neither do the video’s cartoon images of the Tinies meeting unusual deaths, all in rhyme and alphabetical order (“A is for Amy who fell down the stairs, B is for Basil assaulted by bears”).
Death and monsters aside, at the end of the day, this really is just a good old fashioned love song. So this Halloween, say I love you the Dead Man’s Bones’ way: “Honey, my body’s a zombie for you.”
